Where the governing party, Nation Democratic Congress (NDC) has been using the smash hit single ‘Mahama Paper’ of the Ghanaian legendary dancehall artist, Shatta Wale as their official crusade song. On the other hand, the opposition party, New Patriotic Party (NPP) is also no less as it has started using Shatta Wale’s ‘Kakai’ song. How can we deny the fact that ‘Kakai’ is one of those singles who shot Shatta Wale to fame.
It all started when ‘Me Need No Awards’ hitmaker released the song ‘Mahama Paper’ last year, people started assuming that it’s a campaign song for NDC as President Mahama is its flag bearer, But later on Shatta Wale denied all the rumors. Well, this time, a few months back when the song was played again at the NDC Manifesto Launch, Shatta again needed to clear that he didn’t intend to make this song for NDC specifically.
Moreover, he also said that if President Mahama is his fan then its like an honor for him and any political party can use his songs, but that doesn’t mean he is endorsing them ahead of the Ghanaian general election 2016.
For now, ‘Kakai’ song was played at the NPP’s Manifesto Launch, last week and as indicated by Nana Akufo-Addo (the flag bearer of the NPP) that he is coming into power like ‘Kakai’. He also tweeted that he is a great fan of Shatta Wale.
The dancehall king also responded back by tweeting that, ‘I never knew Nana Akufo-Addo was also my great fan. You are coming into power like ‘Kakai’. This year’s presidential election would be shattatics’.
